Where to Put Your Business' Money in the 4th Quarter of 2009

It seems like every week there is more bad news about the state of the economy. It doesn’t look like we are heading for an economic recovery anytime soon. Planning fourth quarter budgets has been increasing difficult this year. It is hard to know where to invest and where to pull back. From staffing concerns to improving technology, 4th quarter 2009 should be looked at as a chance to regroup. For this reason, investing additional capital in a new and exciting advertising campaign is important.

Expanding your advertising campaign is important for several key reasons. First, competition has reached a state of global proportions. The Internet and television media have made even small home based business eligible to play on a global field, so getting your name, product and brand visible to potential customers is critical. Second, the poor economic situation means that many companies are not meeting their sales goals. Coupled with competition, the economy means you must advertise to a greater pool of potential customers to meet your basic sales goals. Investing extra capital into an expanded advertising campaign is necessary for a successful 4th quarter in 2009.

Once you have decided to dedicate a portion of your budget to an expanded advertising campaign, the next critical decision is just how to expand your campaign. While this decision is very much based on the type of business you run, the product or services you promote and your budget, there are several key advertising points that should be included in your campaign.

Where to Invest in Advertising Campaigns

1.Updated Website: Studies show that an updated website can have a vast impact on your bottom line. Consider hiring an outside firm to review your current website. They can suggest new designs and new content that will make your site new and exciting.

2.Online Marketing: Consider implementing a plan that will increase your rankings on search result pages. You can do this on your own or hire an outside firm to assist you. Content writing, keyword research, pay per click advertising and social media should all be included in your plan to market your website.

3.Sales and Specials: The state of the economy and the resulting tightened budgets of potential customers demands you advertise sales and specials. Even if the discount is slight, advertise it. People respond to ads that include discounts or free promotional items.

Larger Versus Smaller Companies and Advertising Strategies

Larger companies may want to consider adding a television, radio or print campaign to their budget. This is especially true for national companies. Make sure your company name comes to mind when people have a need for your service or product.

Smaller companies should consider adding geographical marketing to their advertising campaigns. This concept works especially well online and is designed to help customer that are physically located near your business find their way to you and not your competition. Registering with local online directories is a great start.

Improve your chances of having a successful 4th quarter in 2009 by increasing your advertising budget and campaign.
